Compliance with Mandatory Cyber Security Standards for Smart Devices
As part of our commitment to product safety, regulatory compliance, and consumer protection, Australian Business Mobiles (ABM) is preparing for the enforcement of the Cyber Security (Security Standards for Smart Devices) Rules 2025 (Cyber Security Rules or Rules).
This regulation aims to protect Australian consumers from cyber threats, data breaches, and insecure networks associated with certain products. The Cyber Security Rules take effect on 4 March 2026, with a 12-month transition period. All relevant connectable products manufactured after this date must be fully compliant. Scope of Products
Under the Cyber Security Rules, compliance is required for any "relevant connectable product" (as defined in the Rules) intended or marketed for personal, family, or household use. This includes, but is not limited to:
· Smart home devices (e.g., smart plugs, smart bulbs, smart switches);
· IP cameras, baby monitors, and smart door locks;
· Connected household appliances (e.g., smart fridges, robot vacuums); and
· Smart furniture with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functionality.
Commitment:
Once you submit a security issue report:
· We will send you an email confirmation within three working days.
· We will provide regular progress updates throughout the vulnerability investigation and remediation process until the issue is resolved and closed.
· Updates may cover key milestones, including vulnerability reproduction, risk assessment, remediation scheduling, fixed-version releases, and issue closure.
